A steel bar is a type of steel material that usually has a uniform cross section and is often circular. It can be divided into three types according to the production method: hot rolling, forging, and cold drawing. The diameter of hot-rolled bar steel ranges from 5 to 250 mm, of which 5 to 9 mm is often used as the raw material for drawing steel wire, called wire rod. Forged bar steel has a larger diameter and is usually used as axle blanks. Cold-drawn bar steel has a diameter range of 3 to 100 mm and has high dimensional accuracy. Steel bars are mostly used as semi-finished raw materials for various deep-processed steels and have a wide range of uses.
Stainless steel bars are materials made from stainless steel ingots that are hot rolled or forged. The production of stainless steel bars has emerged with the development of stainless steel, and its application range is wide, including the foundations of high-rise buildings in cold areas, isolation nets beside highways, and household products. Stainless steel bars can be roughly divided into stainless steel round bars, stainless steel square bars, and stainless steel hexagonal bars according to their shapes.
The production standards, production processes, and introductions to different series of stainless steel bars all reflect their application and development in different fields. For example, 316L stainless steel bar has better resistance to pitting corrosion in marine and chemical industrial environments than 304 stainless steel, while 304L stainless steel bar has similar corrosion resistance to 304 in general, but has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding or stress relief.
